This year's winner of the Michael L. Printz award, given by the ALA to "a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature" is Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi. We have it in our collection!

New National Film Board Showings

We've got some great films lined up for you.

"Finding Farley"

A young family retraces the literary footsteps of Canadian writer Farley Mowat from Calgary to Nova Scotia. A wonderful film capturing their 5,000 km journey: sailing, trekking, and paddling the path that Farley Mowat took 60 years earlier.

A compelling documentary that puts a human face on a national tragedy, the murders and disappearances of an estimated 500 Aboriginal women in Canada over the past 30 years.

"The Company of Strangers"

YMCA Employment Service Coming to Lake of Bays

Beginning January 11, 2011, the YMCA Employment Service will be offering employment services in Baysville here at the Library! It's a terrific opportunity for those who find it a challenge to travel to Huntsville.

YMCA Employment Services at Baysville Library: the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 1:00 to 4:00pm

Self-help job search resources such as

• computer with internet access and word processing program
• resume and cover letter templates
• job search web sites
• job search information
• access to an Employment Specialist via web cam (Mon-Fri 9am-4:30pm)

And an Employment Specialist will be on site twice a month to offer assistance in person in such areas as:

• resume and cover letter assistance
• job search advice
• career coaching
• job matching and job placement
• workshops also available on a pre-registration basis
